For the fourth consecutive weekend, Barbie has stood tall atop the box-office weekend. This weekend, the film emerged $15 million ahead of its nearest competitor.
Adding another $34 million to its bank, Greta Gerwig’s Barbie has raised its overall total to $526 million in just four weeks. This makes it the second highest grossing domestic film of the year, just behind The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Meanwhile, Oppenheimer climbed a spot to finish in second with $19 million over the weekend, giving it a four-week tally of $264 million. Also moving up was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem which claimed third place with $16 million over the weekend. This raises the film’s two-week total to $73 million. All of this action pushed Meg 2: The Trench down two spots to a fourth-place finish with $13 million, giving it a two-week total of $54 million. Debuting in fifth place with $6.5 million over the weekend was The Last Voyage of the Demeter.
Dropping a spot to land in sixth-place with $5.6 million was Haunted Mansion which now lays claim to a three-week total of $53 million. Moving up one spot to finish in seventh place was Talk to Me which added $5.1 million over the weekend to lift its three-week total to $31 million. Falling two spots to claim eighth-place with $4.8 million was Sound of Freedom. The film now has a six-week total of $173 million. Also falling two spots was Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One which finished in ninth place with $4.7 million. This gives the latest film in that series a five-week total of $160 million. Finally, also dropping a spot, finishing in tenth place was Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny with $899,000. This gives the latest film of the franchise a seven-week total of $173 million.
Only one film was forced out of the top ten over this box-office weekend. After nine weeks and amassing $150.2 million, Elemental departs the weekend’s top films.
